difficulties with nbg334w

Postby semce2 on Thu Dec 16, 2010 11:35 am

Using Windows 7 on both desktop and laptop. Desktop is a wired connection. ISP is Comcast cable. The instruction manual is not very well written for Windows 7 user and very confusing. After finally getting the desktop to connect to the internet and connecting the laptop to the wireless network I am now unable to get the laptop to connect to the internet through the WAN.

I think there is almost no difference between windows7 users and other windows OS.
with default configuration, you need to set the WAN and wireless LAN on the device.
As you mentioned, the desktop can surf internet, but the laptop can't.
Can your laotop connect to the NBG334W via wireless? if yes, check next. If no, check if the wireless LAN disabled.
Can it get an IP arranged by the router? If no, you should check if the DHCP server is enable on the router.

BTW, the NBG334W should in router mode, right? ;)

I ended up having to pay a technician to come and set this up for me. Even he had difficulty with this. He was able to get it working but I will recommend to everyone I know to avoid anything sold by this manufacturer. Had I known before I bought this product the difficulties I would incur I would never have purchased it and I don't want to see anyone else waste money on a product with such horrible software when there are products from other manufacturers currently on the market similarly priced that are so much easier to install and operate.

Not that it matters much but you could have easily contacted tech support about your problem rather than paying someone to fix it.
There actually isn't any software required to use the router so if you were relying on some kind of software then that may have been your problem in the first place.
